Postdoctoral Research Scientist position

The Laboratory of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Glaciology (VAW) at ETH Zurich invites applications for a
Postdoctoral Research Scientist position
Our institute’s main activities encompass research and teaching related to river and hydraulic engineering, among others.
The postdoctoral research will be part of the national interdisciplinary research project Riverscapes. The research will focus on numerical modelling of suspended sediment transport in compound channels with or without vegetation on floodplains. Consequently, the research work will include the development of a depth-averaged numerical model by extending the existing software BASEMENT, validation of the model with experimental data and application to situations as found in restored river reaches.
The successful candidate has a Master's degree in environmental or civil engineering and a PhD in numerical modelling of hydro- and morphodynamics. The applicant has a relevant publication record and is experienced with numerical methods. Experience in suspended load transport and turbulence modelling would be an asset. We expect a team-oriented person, interested in research activities with emphasis on publication in peer-reviewed journals.
We offer an attractive research environment at a leading hydraulic research institute with excellent infrastructure and a friendly working atmosphere in a young and ambitious team. The project duration will be 2 years with an ideal starting date in early 2019.
We look forward to receiving your online application until 31 October 2018. Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal. Applications via email or postal services will not be considered.
